Petstock Foundation’s National Pet Adoption Month, ‘Adopt-a-Buddy!’
Every dollar raised and every adoption made has helped move us closer to a future where no pet is left behind.

Meet Petstock’s 2026 NPAM Ambassador: Melanie Bracewell
Melanie Bracewell is an award-winning New Zealander comedian, writer and presenter who has become a household name in New Zealand and Australia.
Melanie is a dedicated advocate for animal rescue. She is the proud dog mum to her two beloved rescues, Gigi and Charles.
She says, “I’m thrilled to support the Petstock Foundation for National Pet Adoption Month. Adoption is very close to my heart. Adopting wouldn’t be possible without rescue charities and volunteers who work tirelessly, and I’m proud to encourage people to support them in any way they can.”

Freya
Freya’s journey began under the shadow of a difficult and isolating start, arriving at the rescue as a stunning Cane Corso who had known little of the world beyond neglect. When a well-meaning attempt to integrate her into a busy home proved too overwhelming for her sensitive nature, she returned to CBBR, where her transformation required immense patience and a slow, steady pace to earn her fragile trust. After months of specialized foster care and dedicated training, she finally found her perfect match: a family in a quiet, rural setting who truly understood her need for routine and space. By the start of the new year, Freya had officially moved into her forever home, proving that with the right environment and a circle of trust, a guarded past doesn't have to define a dog's future.

Pippa & Stanley
After an uncertain start and a long wait for the right home, Pippa’s luck finally changed when a compassionate couple specifically sought out a dog who had been "overlooked." Though she was a quirky "Queen Bee" who needed a very specific companion to match her high-energy attitude, the perfect partner arrived in Stanley—a gentle soul who had spent over 200 days in the pound himself. The pair bonded through a slow, patient introduction process, finding common ground in their shared wariness of strangers and their mutual love for boisterous play. Today, these two former strays are inseparable, spending their days playing "hard out" and living their best lives in a home that finally celebrates their unique spirits.
There are still ways to support the Petstock Foundation!
